Investing in Our Shared Future

I am committed to youth education, stronger families, and lowering your cost of living while ensuring our health and safety. By focusing on these four core priorities, I will provide the dedicated and accessible leadership our District 11 community deserves.

Alysha has dedicated her work to supporting youth and families. She has hands-on experience working with children, teens, and adults from a wide range of backgrounds and needs, including those with autism and other developmental differences, helping build life skills, strengthen communication, and support personal growth. Through her involvement in local initiatives, including helping develop youth programming, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity on a build in Pontiac, and contributing to community efforts through organizations such as the NAACP, she has worked closely with families to address real challenges and create pathways for success.

HER STORY

Alysha Johnson is a community-rooted leader and candidate for State Senate in District 11.

Raised in Harrison Township with a strong foundation in faith, service, and community, Alysha is the daughter of a pastor, an upbringing that shaped her commitment to helping others and staying connected to the needs of families.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Administration with a dual focus in Human Resources and Entrepreneurship, as well as a Master of Science in Leadership and Organizational Development (2024) and a Master of Business Administration (2025). Her education has equipped her with the tools to lead, build, and create meaningful impact within her community. Driven by her expertise in organizational ethics, Alysha has officially taken the Michigan LCV "No Utility Money Challenge." By pledging to refuse all campaign contributions from monopoly utilities, she is ensuring that her leadership remains independent and focused solely on the families of District 11.

She is actively involved in church communities, where she volunteers her time supporting outreach, communication, and administrative efforts.

I am running for State Senate to serve District 11 through my four core priorities: Youth Development & Education,  Stronger Families & Community Support, Cost of Living & Economic Security, and Health & Safety. My campaign is rooted in a commitment to provide the grounded accessible leadership our neighborhoods need to thrive.

Core Priorities

Youth Development & Education

I will ensure District 11 has strong public schools and safe buildings with robust after-school, summer, and mentoring programs to build local leaders. My plan expands college and trade school pathways, internships, and youth jobs while providing school supplies and essential support for students facing homelessness or instability.

Stronger Families & Community Support

Supporting caregivers, seniors, and children with better access to childcare, after-school programs, and food security. I will ensure housing stability for families and empower my local churches and nonprofits to continue their vital work.

Cost of Living & Economic Security

I am focused on tackling the rising costs of gas, housing, groceries, and childcare that strain my daily life. My plan includes lowering utility bills and car insurance rates while standing up to special interests to fight for fair policies. By prioritizing these basic needs, I will help hardworking families in District 11 breathe a little easier each month.

Public Health & Shared Safety

I am fighting for resources to tackle mental health, domestic violence, and gun violence while fixing the plumbing and flooding issues in my neighborhoods. By securing better infrastructure and prevention programs, I will ensure District 11 families finally feel safe and healthy in their homes.
